Dear HOC Parents and/or Guardians,
This month, our weekly lessons all have to do with Safety Skills.
How Can You Help?
Safety skills are SO important, but something very few of us think about on a regular basis. This month, we’re focusing on ways to keep ourselves and others safe, in both everyday routines and times of emergency. Help your child understand safety skills by teaching them about 911, telling them what they should do if smoke detectors go off and making sure they know how to escape a fire in your home.
Also, emphasize the importance of wearing the right safety equipment when playing a sport. For example, wearing helmets when biking/skateboarding and using sparring gear if they’re practicing their martial arts sparring. We’re sure that you can think of many other ways that you’ve already worked with your child to ensure their safety. There are a variety of practices to help your child recognize why protecting themselves at all times is necessary.
Establishing safety mechanisms with your children can be both tactful and fun. Think of some creative ways to teach your child about things they don’t know that make playing it safe exciting.
As always, we at HOC are grateful for the opportunity to be an important part of your child’s education –
